Abstract. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often experience gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which exacerbates respiratory symptoms and worsens the overall disease prognosis. This literature review analyzes recent studies on the interaction between GERD and COPD, focusing on the clinical aspects, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment strategies for patients with comorbid GERD and COPD. Emphasis is placed on the importance of early diagnosis and combined therapy, including bronchodilators and proton pump inhibitors, to improve symptom control and patient quality of life.
